2019 Scholarship Winner

Mary Arnold

I am 20 years old and was born on January 23, 1999 at the Naval Hospital at Commander, Naval Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Japan.  I have moved fairly often growing up in the military lifestyle, and, therefore, I have been given the opportunity to live in Japan, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maine, Virginia again, California, Japan again, California again, and finally Seattle for college. I am very dedicated to my academic pursuits and have maintained a 4.0 Grade Point Average since my junior year of high school.  I graduated with honors from Nile C. Kinnick High School in Yokosuka, Japan in June of 2017.  I am now studying Nursing at Seattle University in Seattle, Washington and just finished my sophomore year.  During my high school years, I played on the Soccer Team for 4 years and the Tennis Team for two years. I continued my participation in sports by joining the Seattle University Rowing Team in my freshmen year. This year, my sophomore year, I joined two club soccer teams at my school, women’s and coed. Staying active is a big part of my lifestyle so, besides playing sports, I also like exploring downtown Seattle and going on wilderness hikes with my friends.  I have been given a lot of opportunities in my life and am extremely grateful for all the support I have received from my parents, Melissa and Matthew, my coaches, my siblings, and my teachers.
