COMMISSIONING SOURCE: FY08 Active Duty LDO/CWO

PREVIOUS COMMANDS/EXPERIENCE: CWO4 Penick is originally from Mesa, AZ. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1991. After completing Gunners mate “A” School and MK10 GMLS training. He reported to USS WILLIAM H. STANDLY (GG 32) in San Diego, CA. He deployed for operation Desert shield/Restore Hope, promoted to GMM3. During this tour, he earned the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist designation.

In 1994, he reported to Great Lakes IL for MK13 GMLS “C” School from there he reported to USS Rodney M. Davis (FFG 60) in Yokosuka Japan. During this tour, he was meritorious promoted to GMM2 and completed two Gulf deployments.

CWO4 Penick returned to San Diego, CA FTC for MK 41 VLS “C’ School and reported onboard USS Fife (DD9 91) where he was deployed twice to the Gulf and was meritoriously promoted to GMM1.

In 2000, he reported to Fleet Training Center, San Diego, CA as the lead MK41 VLS course manager, where he was selected to Chief Petty Officer.

In 2002, he reported to USS Lake Champlain (CG 57) as LCPO of CG/CM Division, and completed two Gulf deployments.

In 2006, he reported to the USS Decatur as WEPS LCPO, his tour was highlighted by being selected to commission as Chief Warrant Officer.

In 2009, he reported for his initial commissioned tour to USS Nimitz as the G2 Gunnery Officer completing one deployment to the Gulf and one to the South China Sea.

In 2012, he reported as STO aboard USS PINCKNEY (DDG 91). His tour was highlighted when his ship was called to support SOUTH CHINA SEA OPERATION for the international search for MH370. While on deployment, he earned his Surface Warfare Officer Pin.

In 2014, he reported as Fleet Ordnance Officer of Third Fleet and was responsible for all Ordnance movements in the Pacific, while there he completed MSOC.

In 2016, he reporter to USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) for his second G2 tour, where he completed another South China Sea deployment.

He reported as Officer in Charge of Southeast Regional Calibration Center in Jacksonville, FL on 28 May 2019.

His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (9), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal(3), Kuwait Liberation, Iraq Campaign Medal and numerous other unit and service awards.
