Born in Joliet Illinois and Enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1991, he rose through the ranks as a Fire Control Technician. While serving, he earned an AAS in Telecommunications, a BS and MA in Business Management.

Enlisted tours of duty include: Fire Controlman Class “A” School from July 1991 to June 1992; Naval Guided Missiles School Dam Neck Virginia for Class “C” School of the Terrier Weapons Direction System (WDS) from July 1992 to January 1993; USS YELLOWSTONE (AD-41) from January 1993 until September 1995; Fleet Combat Training Center Atlantic, Dam Neck Virginia for MK 160 Gun Weapons System, Class “C” School from October 1995 until December 1995. USS COLE (DDG 67) from January 1996 until September 1998; Fleet Combat Training Center Atlantic, Dam Neck Virginia for Instructor Duty from September 1998 until September 2001; USS MASON (DDG 87) from September 2001 until December 2005.

Commissioned in January 2006 as a Surface Ordnance Limited Duty Officer (LDO), his first officer tour was onboard USS LABOON (DDG 58) as the Systems Test Officer and Weapons Officer from July 2006 until June 2009. His next assignment was to USS BARRY (DDG 52) as the Systems Test Office and Combat Systems Officer from July 2009 until December 2011. In January 2012 until June 2013 he was assigned to Navy Supply Global Logistic Support, Ammunition Logistics Atlantic as the Assistant Officer in Charge and Surface Ordnance Branch Head. From July 2013-August 2016 he was assigned as the Commanding Officer, Navy Munitions Command, East Asia Division, Unit Misawa. From August 2016 until September 2018 he was assigned to COMLOGWESTPAC Singapore as the Surface Ordnance Branch Head. From April 2019 until January 2021 he was assign as the Gun Boss onboard USS WASP (LHD-1). In 2020 he was re-designated as a Surface Electronics Limited Duty Officer. He is currently serving in Millington TN as PERS-406 at COMNAVPERSCOM.

Commander Grahek’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (8 awards) and various campaign and service medals.
