The Navy Mustang Scholarship recognizes academic excellence, leadership, community service and extracurricular activities and a commitment to pursuing higher education. This year, there are two grants: a $1,000 award and a $500 secondary award.
Purpose
To recognize through monetary grants 1) exceptional E5-E8 Navy or Navy Reserve personnel whose continued performance level has distinguished them as possible future Mustang candidates; 2) dependents of NMA members; 3) high school students; and 4) college students.
Scope
Scholarship checks will be made payable jointly to individual and educational institution.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be nominated by any NMA member in good standing or NMA Chapter and submit a completed application. Applicants must demonstrate academic excellence as determined by transcripts, grade point average and SAT/ACT scores. Leadership, community service, and extracurricular activities will be considered. Grants will be awarded on an equal opportunity, non-discriminatory basis.
Ceremony
Scholarship Grants will be presented during command awards quarters at the recipient's command by nominee or a uniformed member of NMA whenever possible.
